Reflection from the Bishop 

As we remember Pope Francis and give thanks for his remarkable life, Bishop Michael Kennedy shares how the Holy Father touched our Diocese, inspired the Church, and led with strength, humility, and love.

Pope Francis’ funeral was held on Saturday 26 April in St Peter’s Square. You can watch it below.  

Memorial Mass for Pope Francis  

The life and legacy of Pope Francis were honoured during a Memorial Mass for the Pontiff at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Monday 28 April. 

People from across the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle filled the cathedral to offer prayers for the repose of the Pope’s soul and give thanks for his extraordinary life of service.
