ALIVE Catholic Youth is here!
ALIVE Catholic Youth creates a visible opportunity for young people of all ages, from all locations and walks of life, to engage meaningfully with Christ and their faith. It also nurtures a strong sense of belonging and identity within the Church across the Diocese, helping young people form lasting friendships and grow as missionary disciples.
The Mission & Evangelisation team is also supporting parishes in developing youth ministry pathways – that young adults, primary school students and high school students might all have concrete opportunities to find friendships, opportunities for encounter, and meaningful formation as missionary disciples. See below for the current offerings in the Diocese.
Youth groups
- 3:16 Youth: Friday nights (7pm – 8.45pm) at St John’s Hall Maitland. All teenagers (Year 7 and older) are welcome.
- In mid to late 2026, MacKillop Parish Charlestown will be launching a youth group as the second stage of their youth ministry pathway.
Young adult groups

- Wallsend-Shortland: young adult group first Sunday of the month; 3rd Sunday of the month, “Ask A Priest”; St Patrick’s Church Wallsend

Pilgrimages
Another offering every few years is the opportunity to journey on pilgrimage to the Australian Catholic Youth Festival or to World Youth Day.
