Our purpose
The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals, families, and communities across the region through a range of community support programs and agencies. Guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching, these initiatives reflect a shared commitment to care, compassion, and inclusion.
Within our Diocese, three key agencies provide vital support: CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning, the Catholic Community Fund, and Hunter Community Housing:
- CatholicCare Hunter-Manning is at the heart of our mission, providing practical support through their Child, Youth and Family, Foster Care, Counselling and Clinical services, Food Programs, and Social Enterprise.
- Catholic Community Fund provides cost-effective funding for capital works in our Diocese to support the building of new schools and school infrastructure upgrades, St Nicholas Early Education Centres, facilities for CatholicCare, community housing and initiatives to support our parish communities.
- Hunter Community Housing helps with secure and affordable rental housing for those in need.
At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive community, where no one is left behind.
There are also several other Catholic organisations and programs that operate within our Diocese that help support our community and beyond:
