VET students and teachers from Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Schools have taken out the first and runner up prizes in the Youth Express VET Awards held in Maitland.

6 March, 2026The awards recognise individuals who demonstrate excellence in teaching or learning and a passion for vocational education as a springboard to further training and employment.
In each category, there were a large number of nominees representing schools from all education sectors. We had three finalists in the student category:
- Bethany Sanson – All Saints’ College Maitland, VET Business Services, Retail, Hospitality
- Amelia Sternbeck – St Catherine’s Catholic College Singleton, VET Primary Industries
- Neave Fogarty – St Joseph’s College Lochinvar, VET Entertainment Industry

In the teaching category, congratulations to
- Michelle Kinkade – VET Leader of Learning All Saints’ College Maitland, VET Hospitality teacher – Winner
- Louiza Mavros – VET Leader of Learning Catherine McAuley Catholic College Medowie, VET Entertainment teacher – runner up
