Can you help CatholicCare make a difference in 2025?
“The food van makes a big difference to someone who is struggling. You don’t know where your next feed is going to come from, or where the money for your next feed is going to come from. It’s the biggest godsend we’ve ever seen.”

For over a year, Dean has been a regular visitor to CatholicCare’s Community Food Van in Civic Park, relying on its support during one of the most challenging periods of his life. A proud Novocastrian since the age of seven and from a coal mining family, Dean knows what it’s like to struggle and how much difference a warm meal and friendly face can make.
Recently, Dean shared his story with the CatholicCare team, speaking openly about the impact the service has had on his life.
“It’s always good to come back here and get the friendly service, I don’t always see that,” he said.

Dean is one of the hundreds of people CatholicCare sees each week at their five Community Kitchens – he and so many others need more support. You can help make a difference.
Please consider giving a gift to CatholicCare’s 2025 fundraising Appeal. Every dollar donated goes directly to support these unfunded programs – practical, life-changing support for people in our region who are in desperate need.
