Together, our panel will reflect on the well-known insight of theologian Stephen Bevans.

“The Church does not have a mission; the mission has a Church.”

Rather than viewing mission as simply one activity of the Church, this perspective invites us to see the Church itself as existing to participate in God’s mission of love, reconciliation and hope in the world.

Through practical examples and conversation, our panel will explore what mission looks like today how it is lived through relationships, service, accompaniment and witness in our everyday lives. Together we will consider how we can move from an inward focus to an outward-looking Church that listens, accompanies and responds to the needs of our communities.
