The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle acknowledges the outcome of the court proceedings and respects the decision reached through the judicial process.

The Diocese also acknowledges the courage shown by the victim to come forward and ensure justice was done.

The Diocese takes all allegations of abuse extremely seriously and has robust safeguarding, reporting and response processes in place across all schools. Consistent with those processes, appropriate actions were taken and the individual concerned is no longer employed by the school.
