Pre-loved booksale raises thousands for CatholicCare
Pre-loved Book Sale supporting CatholicCare Hunter-Manning is a great success

An inaugural Pre-loved Book Sale at the Diocesan Resource Centre has proven to be a great success, raising thousands of dollars for CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning.
Since opening on 8 July, the Pre-loved Book Sale has seen 1,423 items sold, raising $4,672 for CatholicCare’s community programs.
Between 2,500 and 3,000 books and resources have been made available, including religious and non-religious titles covering a broad range of topics. Many visitors have come from across the Diocese to browse the collection, with some making the trip from outside diocesan boundaries to visit the sale.
Over the years, the Diocesan Resource Centre has received many generous book donations, but not all of them can be accommodated within the library’s collection. Rather than storing the books away, staff saw an opportunity to share them with the community while supporting a worthy cause.
“We’ve been amazed by the quality of books available. Some titles would normally sell for well over $100, yet people have been able to pick them up at a fraction of the cost,” said Diocesan Resource Centre Librarian Mary O’Connor.
There are still plenty of fantastic titles available, all priced at just $2. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, there’s still time to browse the collection, find a bargain and support CatholicCare.
The book sale will continue at the Diocesan Resource Centre on Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 5pm until the end of August.
