10 February, 2026At CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning, small acts of kindness are creating a ripple of hope across our region. Something as simple as sharing a meal, offering a smile, or listening to someone’s story can make a world of difference for those facing hardship.
In recent weeks, we have highlighted stories like Dean’s, who turns to our Community Kitchens when times are tough, and Dennis, a volunteer whose quiet dedication helps keep our services running.
Now, we would like to take you behind the scenes at our Taree service, where a passionate team of volunteers and staff work hand-in-hand to ensure no one in their community goes hungry.
This region has been hit hard by the recent floods, and our food service is experiencing a significant increase in the number of people coming through our doors as the community deals with the severe impacts of these weather events.
We anticipate that these higher numbers will continue as people grapple with lost or damaged homes, financial struggles and emotional anguish.
We’ve also gathered messages from volunteers across our Food Programs, who share why they love what they do and how important your support is in keeping our kitchens open and welcoming.
Thanks to the generosity of our Diocese, the 2025 Make a Difference Appeal has already brought vital support to this ministry.
