Decorate Your Space Returns in 2026
Choose a space to decorate in recognition of National Child Protection Week 2026 and our shared commitment to promote the safety, welfare, and well-being of children in our communities.
Let’s continue the conversations and realign to turn them into actions
National Child Protection Week 2026 will be held from Sunday 6 to Saturday 12 September, inviting communities across Australia to reflect on how we can strengthen the support systems that help children grow up safe, supported and connected.
This year’s theme, ‘Every Conversation Matters, Shifting Conversation to Action’, builds on the momentum of last year by encouraging individuals, families and organisations to turn discussions about child safety into meaningful, practical action. By continuing to work together, we can ensure every child in our community feels heard, valued and protected.
To mark the week, we invite you to share your commitment to child safety by taking part in Decorate Your Space. Get involved, continue the conversation and help raise awareness of the important role we all play in keeping children safe.
Decorate Your Space
Decorate Your Space invites our communities – including Catholic Schools, St Nicholas, CatholicCare, and Parishes – to create something that uniquely reflects their commitment to children’s safety and wellbeing in line with the theme of NCPW for the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Our communities can choose to decorate any visible space – the only limit is your imagination!
How to enter
To enter, simply submit your entry in jpeg format (max 3 images) along with a 150-word description explaining what your entry means and how it is connected to this year’s theme.
*While we welcome video content to be created, these entries will not be accepted as part of Decorate Your Space.
Entries will be judged based on:
- Creativity
- Involvement from children and communities*
- Visibility or presence at your site
- Relevance to this year’s theme
*As relevant per agency

Winners of our Decorate Your Space initiative will be awarded the following prizes:
- Catholic Schools (Primary) – $4,000
- Catholic Schools (Secondary) – $4,000
- St Nicholas (Early Education) – $500
- St Nicholas (OOSH) – $500
- CatholicCare – $500
- Parishes – $500

What else is happening?
All Diocesan agencies can access a variety of dedicated resources on the Office of Safeguarding website. These resources are designed to equip our staff and young people with the skills and strategies to identify, respond to, and seek assistance in a range of unsafe situations.
