The appeal supports CatholicCare’s Community Kitchens and other unfunded community programs across the Hunter-Manning region.

Leah, who attends one of CatholicCare’s Community Kitchens while helping to raise her grandchildren, said the kitchen has become a place of welcome and friendship.

“It’s more than just a meal,” Leah said.

“The volunteers genuinely care. They make you feel welcome and supported.”

CatholicCare currently serves more than 1,000 meals each week through Community Kitchens in Adamstown, Newcastle, Toronto, Taree and Forster.

CatholicCare Director Lisa Craven said the appeal is about ensuring people experiencing hardship continue to feel supported and connected.

“For many people, a meal at one of our Community Kitchens is more than something to eat. It’s a place where they feel welcomed, valued and part of a community,” said Lisa.

The Make a Difference Appeal is an opportunity for our community to come together and ensure that no one is left behind. Every gift, no matter the size, helps provide hope, connection and practical support to those who need it most.

You can help people like Leah. Your tax-deductible donation will directly support local people and help ensure that families like Leah’s continue to receive meals, care and connection this winter.

Donations made before 30 June are tax deductible and will directly support local people in need.

The Diocese encourages our parish communities, schools, and staff to support the CatholicCare Appeal, if they can, by raising awareness through their networks.

Please help us make a difference today.
