Catholic Community Fund Advisory BoardThe Catholic Community Fund Advisory Board (CCFAB) plays a vital governance role within the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, supporting both the Bishop and the Trustees in overseeing the Catholic Community Fund and the entity that holds the Australian Financial Services Licence, CDFMN AFSL.

About

The Catholic Community Fund Advisory Board (CCFAB) plays a vital governance role within the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, supporting both the Bishop and the Trustees in overseeing the Catholic Community Fund and the entity that holds the Australian Financial Services Licence, CDFMN AFSL.

Established under the Diocesan Governance Framework, the Board ensures these financial entities operate ethically, legally, and in alignment with the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Functioning as both the Board of the Catholic Community Fund and the CDFMN AFSL Board, the CCFAB provides strategic oversight, monitors service quality, provides financial and investment oversight, ensures compliance with regulatory obligations and completes audit and assurance requirements. It advises on financial sustainability, risk management, debt management and performance frameworks for key personnel, while also promoting synodality and community engagement.

The Board is responsible for reviewing and recommending financial policies and budgets, approving key operational policies, and reporting on performance to the Bishop, Trustees, and Diocesan leadership. It also supports the Bishop and Trustees in fulfilling their canonical and civil responsibilities.

Comprising 4 to 7 members plus a Presider (typically the Bishop or delegate), the Board includes ex-officio members and standing invitees such as the CFO and Director of the Catholic Community Fund. It meets at least four times annually and may establish standing committees to assist in its work.

Ultimately, this Advisory Board ensures that the Catholic Community Fund and CDFMN AFSL remain mission-aligned, well-governed and responsive to the needs of the Diocese and its broader community.
