22 Mar 26Mary Magdalene was the first to encounter the Risen Christ. Her life continues to inspire us with her courage, leadership, fidelity, and unwavering strength.
The Magdalene Award honours women who embody these same qualities—women whose lives reflect commitment, service, and the compassionate spirit of Mary Magdalene within the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. Established as a tribute to these remarkable contributors, the Award offers a public affirmation of their quiet, consistent and faith-filled impact on our community.
All nominees will be recognised during a special Awards Presentation, following Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral, presided over by Bishop Michael Kennedy, and celebrated on the first Sunday after the Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene (22 July).
Nominee Applications will open mid-April.
