Join us for the next Called to Know More gathering as we welcome Correctional Centre Chaplain, Bernard Leslie, who will share insights into prison ministry, the realities faced by those in custody, and the vital role chaplains play in bringing hope, dignity, and human connection to some of the most marginalised members of our community.

This year marks 10 years since Prison Sunday was established during the Year of Mercy in 2016, following Pope Francis’s initiative to observe the Jubilee for Prisoners. Since then, Prison Sunday has become an important annual opportunity for the Church in Australia to pray for prisoners, support their families, and recognise the dedicated ministry of prison chaplains.

“We need to nourish the roots of our hope so that they can bear fruit … despite whatever evil we have done. There is no corner of our heart that cannot be touched by God’s love.”
– Pope Francis

Each year on the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Catholic Church in Australia marks Prison Sunday, bringing attention to the plight of prisoners and highlighting the important work undertaken by prison chaplains who accompany people with compassion, mercy and hope.

As we celebrate a decade of Prison Sunday, this session provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the Church’s mission of mercy and accompaniment, and to learn more about a ministry that often remains unseen but is profoundly transformative.

Come along to listen, learn, and share in conversation. All are welcome.

Light refreshments provided on conclusion.
