Catholic Community Fund Advisory BoardThe Catholic Community Fund Advisory Board (CCFAB) plays a vital governance role within the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, supporting both the Bishop and the Trustees in overseeing the Catholic Community Fund and the entity that holds the Australian Financial Services Licence, CDFMN AFSL.

Members

Brett Gleeson - Chair

Brett Gleeson’s career began in radio management before transitioning to adult education as Executive Director of WEA Hunter. He founded Gleeson Consulting Services in 2002, focusing on strategy, governance and project management. He later led the Business Growth Centre and served as General Manager of the Newcastle Show Association, followed by Maitland Show Association. Brett has extensive board experience across government and community organisations and is a long-standing member of the Diocesan Advisory Board. He holds qualifications in business, management and governance.

Alf Capito

Alf Capito is an experienced legal and financial professional with 40 years’ advisory and leadership experience in taxation, governance and strategic management. A former partner at Arthur Andersen and Managing Partner at Ernst & Young, he led client portfolios across manufacturing, mining, energy and financial services. He holds degrees in Law, Commerce and a Master of Taxation and is a Chartered Accountant, CPA and AICD member. Alf actively contributes to parish life and writes books that engage young people in Catholic faith.

Kedra Egan

Kedra Egan is a governance, risk and compliance leader with more than twenty years of experience in financial services and regulated environments in Australia and New Zealand recognised for her calm, considered approach. She has held senior executive and non-executive roles, working with boards and regulators to strengthen governance and improve risk maturity. Kedra has served as Responsible Manager under Australian Credit License and the Australian Financial Services Licence regimes. Kedra currently an Independent Member of the Lake Macquarie City Council Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee and has previously served on community focused boards, including the Alcoholics Anonymous NSW Board.

Alan Malsem

Alan is a finance and governance professional with over 20 years’ senior leadership experience across transport, energy, mining, media and the not-for-profit sector. \ His expertise includes financial management, strategy, risk, analytics and organisational transformation. He holds an MBA (Distinction), is a Fellow of CPA Australia and CIMA, and a member of AICD. Alan is active in his faith and has been involved in a number of evangelical, faith formation and pastoral ministries.

Fr Joseph Figurado

Reverend Joseph Figurado is a priest of the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle, ordained in October 2006 at St Sebastian Cathedral in the Diocese of Mannar, Sri Lanka. He holds diplomas in Philosophy and Theology from the National Seminary of Our Lady of Lanka in Kandy. Fr Joseph has served in parish and pastoral ministry across Sri Lanka and Australia, including appointments in the Inner City Newcastle region and as Parish Priest of Blackbutt South Parish. Since arriving in the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle in 2017, he has contributed to diocesan leadership as Dean of the Watagan Deanery and through membership of the Trustees, College of Consultors, Council of Priests and Catholic Community Fund Advisory Board supporting governance and mission.

Statutes and Protocols are ad experimentum during the first year, and may be updated from time to time during that year. The role of the relevant Council or Board will be to, at the end of the first year, consider the drafts and participate in updates to make the process fit for purpose.
