Parishes are located throughout the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and each provides various ways to engage with the community through prayer, worship, formation, and outreach. A parish is a community of Christ’s faithful, and its pastoral care is entrusted to a Parish Priest. He is the designated pastor of the community, responsible for caring for the people and celebrating the sacraments. In exercise of his office, the Parish Priest acts under the authority of the diocesan Bishop.
Parishes strive to be a community united by a common bond of love for neighbour and Jesus. We share in the sacraments and journey together as one family through the ups and downs of life.
A parish can be your first point of contact if you wish to be married in a Catholic Church, for your children to be baptised, or if you, or someone you know wishes to explore what the process might look like to join the faith. Parishes are places of faith, hope and charity with a purpose to invite and welcome you into their life.
