Lochinvar's Tenison Woods Education Centre to transition to the Diocese this month
Following an announcement in November 2016 confirming purchase of land and buildings located at Lochinvar from the Sisters of St Joseph, the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is officially taking carriage of the Tenison Woods Education Centre (TWEC) from May 2017.
The centre will continue to offer dedicated adult faith programs and courses supported by the diocese's Adult Faith Formation Council and Office.
Recognising the long standing history of TWEC, the diocese is committed to a smooth transition says Bishop Bill Wright:
"With a long history in education the Sisters of St Joseph are an important feature of the history of not just Lochinvar, but our diocese as a whole.
"By bringing TWEC directly into our diocesan structure we're looking forward to being able to continue the outstanding work the Sisters of St Joseph have established over the last 24 years in Lochinvar. We plan to support TWEC with both our Adult Faith Formation Council and Office – equipped to ensure the future direction and courses offered continue to meet the needs of the community."
"We will be marking the occasion with a formal transition event on Sunday 28 May onsite at Lochinvar. This will provide opportunity for all within the community to engage with the history of TWEC, and take part in a ritual to mark the handing on of this important ministry," Bishop Bill said.
