The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is delighted to announce a new Catholic Primary School at Thornton North.

The new school will be a two stream primary school (K – 6) with an eventual capacity of 420 students and will be known as Chisholm Catholic Primary School.

The new school is due to open in 2015 (subject to STCA and CBGA approval). The site of the new school is on a parcel of land within the Waterford County residential subdivision at Thornton North.

Director of the Catholic Schools Office, Mr Ray Collins, is excited that a new school will soon be available to meet the ever-increasing demand for quality Catholic education in the Lower Hunter region.

"The Maitland region is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW and the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is committed to providing the necessary infrastructure to match this growth," Mr Collins said.

"The new school will be ecologically sustainable and accessible for all, with flexible learning spaces and a contemporary design. Students at Chisholm Catholic Primary School will be encouraged and supported in their faith, will develop the tools and skills of independent and critical thinkers and will blossom under the encouragement and wisdom of their teachers," Mr Collins said.

Expressions of interest are now being taken.
