Mission & Outreach

One of the five foundations of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan is Mission and Outreach; engaging people in the transformation of society, outreach through mercy and justice, to build the kingdom of God.

The diocese aims to be more evangelising, to reach out to the poor and marginalised and develop people's sense of being missionary.

CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning is a direct mission and outreach agency of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and offers assistance and support to all families and individuals, regardless of age, gender or religion.

CatholicCare offers a variety of services include counselling, foster care, mental health support, youth services and crisis accommodation, disability support and accommodation, marriage education, family relationship services and more.

In addition to this, a number of mission and outreach organisations also operate within the diocese to assist those in need including the House of Hospitality, CatholicCare Refugee Service, St Vincent de Paul, Mercy ServicesCatholic Mission and Caritas.
