Preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation

The Children's Ministries Team assist the parishes of the diocese in preparing children for the Sacraments of Initiation.  This work is done by supporting priests and parish sacramental teams and individual catechists with preparation of children and young people for the Sacraments of:

  • Baptism
  • Confirmation
  • Eucharist (and Reconciliation).

The diocesan policy for sacramental preparation of children is parish-based and family centred. Catholic School staff and State School catechists often work in close cooperation with parish teams in this ministry.

Consider the following questions and have your say at olaf@mn.catholic.org.au

1. How might parishes implement the new policy?
2. How will we bring the principles and ideas of the new policy to life?
3. What can we do to make the dream of a Family-centred, Parish-based and School-supported program to reality?

Children's Ministries serves the parishes, parents and children of the diocese by research, development and pastoral practice.

Support with policies, training, resources and programs are readily available through this team.
